Snowy Mittens

Good morning!  I have a card to share using this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch...there are still a few days left in the challenge, so I hope you will play along.  One random winner will win a $5 voucher, and all who enter will win a $1 voucher to the store.  Here's the sketch:

Isn't it a great one?  Get busy!

I had some great paper in my stash that's very textured, so I thought it would be fun to paper piece the mittens.  Don't ask my why, but I thought it would be fun to get out the acrylic paint and glitter...I will say I did have fun, but made quite the mess.  LOL  Loose glitter is so much messier, in the winter, when the air is so dry...static cling!  Anyway, I painted and sprinkled to my heart's content.  I finished the card with some snowflakes embellished with Swarovski flatback crystals

Dottie is colored with pencils and I used some fun paper that has been in my stash for a loooong time; I rounded the corners on the DP for a bit of interest and added some bling to dress it up a bit.

happy birthday to ewe!

Good morning!  Have you been playing along with Bugaboo's 4th Birthday celebration?  I sure hope so; there are some GREAT prizes up for grabs!  Wednesday is Humor Me Wednesday so we would like to see a funny birthday creation.

I thought this image was a hoot, so it was an easy choice for this challenge.  It's colored with pencils and I've done some simple layering and embellished with a twine-tied button.  This is attached to a simple, handmade birthday box with a surprise inside:

Moolah!  What young person doesn't appreciate some of that? (I will be saving this for my son's birthday.)  I printed a cute poem embellished with some DP corners for one side and for the other I rolled some bills, tied them with twine, and used just a touch of taperunner to hold them in place (they are easy to remove).  Voila'...card and gift all in one easy package!

Image: Bugaboo "Make it Snappy-Birthday Ewe" Digital Stamp
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Pure Poppy and Dark Chocolate, Doodlebug DP
Embellies: PTI Dark Chocolate Button/Pure Poppy Baker's Twine
Extras: Scor-Pal, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

I hope you will check out what the rest of the team has created to tickle your funny bone.

I am also entering my project in the following challenges:

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Helen has chosen our challenge and she would like to see you use a doily on your card.  Let's get to it!

This simple card took me forever to make; I almost threw in the towel a couple of times, but since I didn't want to waste the paper I kept plugging away!  LOL  Why is clean and simple so hard?  I have done no stamping on this card, but I did put my dies to work...doily, flower, heart, alphabet.  For embellishing, I made a felt flower and used some cool zebra print bling (I couldn't resist buying it..I LOVE animal print!) that has been in my stash just waiting for it's moment to shine!

Ink: SU! Black Marker
Paper: SU! Melon Mambo, The Paper Studio Black Glitter CS, Echo Park DP
Embellies: Spare Parts Bling
Extras: Corner Chomper, PTI Doily Details Die A and Block Alphabet, MFT Rolled Flower Die-namics Die/PTI Raspberry Fizz Felt, Verve From the Heart Die

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's doily creations...they are sure to inspire you...we hope you will play along!

I am also entering my card in the following challenges:

Need a hug?

Good morning sketch fans!  So sorry my post is up a bit late; I put in a 14 hour day yesterday and then had a treacherous drive home.  It is cold, cold, cold here!  I found my car coated with ice, which took awhile to clean...by the time I was done, my fingers were numb.  Then I hit the icy road for home and had to deal with blowing snow as well.  I was a bit into the drive and decided maybe it wasn't such a good idea, but had to keep going.  I was trying to keep pace with the semi in front of me so I wouldn't loose sight of his tail lights but was afraid to drive as fast as he was.  I finally made it to town and ran into the worst white-out of the trip...there is an open field...not good!  After showering and talking to hubby and the kids, I sat down...and fell asleep!  What a day!

Back to this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches sketch....  Debbie has chosen our sketch and Doodle Pantry is our sponsor.  I went with Vintage Bear and shabbied my card up a bit...I really do like using my distressing tool...there's just something fun about it!  LOL  I embellished simply with Swarovski flatbacks and a button.

Image/Sentiment: Doodle Pantry Vintage Bear
Ink: Printer
Paper: PTI Raspberry Fizz and Smokey Shadow, Echo Park DP
Embellies: PTI Raspberry Fizz Button, Swarovski Flatback Crystals in "Black Diamond", Gray Grosgrain Ribbon (my stash)
Extras: Spellbinder's Nestabilities, The Paper Studio Sticky Doos

Frosty the Snowman

Good morning!  The ladies at Ruby's Rainbow have a new challenge; for this fortnight, Shaz has chosen "Film or Song Title" for our theme.  Bet you know what I picked, right?

That's right, "Frosty the Snowman"!  I have used some of the contents from a card kit sent to me by my Secret Sister, Jessica.  Isn't the snowman image darling?  I couldn't resist using him for this challenge!  Also, if you look carefully, you will see the music on the DP.  The image is colored with pencils and I've accented it with 2 kinds of glitter along with a black gel pen.  The sketch is from Sketch Saturday; I've used a die from The Cat's Pajamas, a bit of vellum, some twill, and mini brads for embellishing.

I Heart You

I'm back with a new challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches.  To kick off the new year, we are having each designer pick a sketch for the first 7 challenges.  Since my name starts with "A",  I am up first!  I chose Sketch #190 from March 19th of last year.  I love that you can dress it up or down!

I decided to go clean and simple and used a new set from Doodle Pantry called Loving Critters. I printed a pre-colored image and some matching DP and went to work.  The image is die cut and mounted, then accented with glitter.  The banners are secured with red brads.

Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Pure Poppy, Doodle Pantry Digital DP
Embellies: Spare Parts Brads, Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter

Do you ever get done with a project and think, "That just isn't right?"  Here's a peek at my first try...I decided the white card base just didn't work.  Isn't it amazing what a difference a little color makes?

I hope you will check out the rest of the DT's creations and challenge details, then play along!

Good morning!  I hope the winter weather hasn't hit too hard and that you're staying warm!  It is frigid here...no school today, so we'll be having some fun at home.  Does "Mom, I'm bored!" count as fun?  LOL

After a short holiday break, we are back with a new sketch at From the Heart Stamps...it's a fun one, so I hope you will give it a try!

.

It's the birth of a new year, so I decided to make a birthday card and went with Birdbrain Balloon.  I think maybe she's had too much cake!  How do I know?  That's what I look like when I've had too many cupcakes!  LOL  She's colored with pencils, and I've given her a bit of sparkly eye shadow along with a sparkly balloon.  I pulled some of my favorite papers from my stash (I've had them forever...I ration them!) and done some layering and embellished with some twill and a bunch of colorful buttons; yes, I do love buttons!  I like how bright and cheery this one turned out.

It's Oldie But Goodie Thursday and my card features Ruby Tidbits-Overdrawn.  "What do you mean I'm overdrawn?  I still have checks left!"  I have to say that I love her cheeky approach to shopping!  Ruby is colored with pencils and I've added some glitter to her shopping bags and earrings.  The buttons on her shoes are dotted with a black gel pen.  I selected some patterns from a pad of DP and pieced them together for the background, which is attached with brads.

I got your back

Hello there; it's time for Doodle Pantry's January release!  Laurie has released 31 (yes, 31!) new items, so be sure you visit the shop to take a peek and shop.  It was hard to choose a set for today's card, there are so many cute new sets...I'll be posting more creations throughout the month, so stay tuned!

I'm working with a fun set called Silly Critters...there are some adorable animals included, along with sentiments and digi papers.  I thought the turtle was so cute...then I remembered that I had some cute ladybug buttons that would work well with the image (I just cut the shank off).  I went clean and simple to let the image shine; I just combined the image with the coordinating sentiment, added some ribbon and embellished the image panel with die cut circles and the buttons.

Image/Sentiment: Doodle Pantry Digis
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI New Leaf and True Black
