Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge from the ladies at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight Silvi has chosen our Recipe Challenge...she would like you to use Twine, Buttons, and Embossing.  Great challenge!

I've used the From the Heart Stamps April Stamp of the Month "Spring Medley".  Faith's flowers are beautiful!  I've colored them with pencils, done some simple matting, and added ribbon and pearls for embellishing.

What's Up?

Good morning!  I have a card to share that I made last week...yes, last week!  How does time get away like that?  Doodle Pantry sponsored last Thursday's Creative Knockouts "Furry Friends" challenge; while my card was posted on the D.P. blog, I hadn't posted here yet.

I used an adorable pre-colored image called Jiggles Giraffe; the set includes outlines, pre-colored images, sentiments, and patterned papers.  I paired the image with some paper from my stash; I wanted to highlight the pretty bow, but wanted a bit of yellow too.  (The third time is a charm...that's how many tries it took to get this right!  LOL  I kept picking out color combos, cutting the papers, and then deciding "No, that's not it!")  I printed an extra bow, cut it out, and popped it up for a little extra "oomph"; I added some mesh and brads for embellishing.

Good morning!  I was lucky enough to be asked to Guest Design for Sweet Stampin' this month!  How cool is that?  Today is my first post; the theme for this week is Easter.

It's no secret that I am a fan of chicks, so as I was looking through my stash of  Flat Friends images "Chicks" was an easy pick!  The chicks are colored with pencils; I've gone with a simple layout to keep the focus on them.  I've embellished simply with a sentiment banner and some Swarovski flatback crystals.  I love the colors in this patterned paper...they're so soft and pretty; I happened to find some coordinating glitter CS in my stash too, I love it when that happens!

Humor Me Wednesday

Good morning; it's Humor Me Wednesday at Bugaboo!  Humor Me Holidays for this week are:

1st-April Fool's Day or International Fun at Work Day
3rd-Don't Go to Work Unless it's Fun Day
4th-Walk Around Things Day or National Walk to Work Day
6th-Sorry Charlie Day

I decided to go with "Don't Go to Work Unless it's Fun Day".  As some of you know, I'm a nurse and I work on a Ortho/Neuro unit.  It's really hard, but rewarding work; most of our patient population are elderly and I love working with them...they are really neat people!  Healthcare can be crazy busy though, and sometimes you need just a bit of fun; this Stella image reminded me of a girl I used to work with 20+ years ago.  Connie had an amazing sense of humor and the patient's really loved her; one day she told a joke that I never forgot:

Question: Who invented the hospital gown?
Answer: Dr. Seymore Butt

Alright, I hope I havn't offended anyone with that....  Anyway, this card is for Connie!

Stella is colored with pencils and I've added a touch of subtle glitter to the dots/trim on the gown.  I paired the image with a fun sketch and embellished simply with a sentiment and brads.

Rainy Day Birdbrains

Good morning!  It's time for a new challenge at Ruby's Rainbow; for this fortnight, Jennifer has chosen our challenge and she would like to see "April Showers"...that's right, umbrellas or raindrops!  The challenge made me think of this new "Rainy Day Birdbrains" image from Faith, so I went with it and used this week's From the Heart Stamps sketch too.  Here is the sketch:

The image is colored with pencils and I've added lots of sparkly glitter (love the stuff!).  I figure that you need a little sparkle on a dreary, rainy day!  The sketch was a bit challenging for me, but I finally figured it out....  I coordinated some bright patterned papers and embellished with die cut clouds and buttons.  This was a fun one to make!

Image: From the Heart Stamps "Rainy Day Birdbrains" Digital Stamp
Ink: Printer
Paper: G.P. 110, PTI Hawaiian Shores and Berry Sorbet, Echo Park DP, Doodlebug Sugar Coated CS
Embellies: Art Glitter in "Angel Dust", PTI "Berry Sorbet" Buttons/DMC Floss

***My tip for Top Tip Tuesday is this....  Are you afraid of mixing/matching patterned papers?  My tip is to just go for it!  Have some fun!  Chances are that if they are in the same paper collection, they will look good together.  I like to vary the sizes, patterns, and color of the papers.

Cool Cash

It's the first of the month so that means it's time for a new release from Doodle Pantry!  I'm working with a fun set called Cool Cash; the set includes outlines, pre-colored images, sentiments, and patterned/plain colored papers.

As I was working on this, I was thinking of the new Muppet movie...I had asked the kids if they wanted to go, but they declined.  I guess at ages 13 and 15 the Muppets may not be too appealing!  LOL  I really did want to go....  I went with a pre-colored image and one of the patterned papers; I was channeling Miss Piggy and decided that I needed to add some feminine touches...ribbon and pearls....  Just for fun!

Tip: Since the background paper is fairly dark, you could see it through the ribbon.  I simply adhered a piece of vanilla CS underneath the ribbon on the left side; there is no need to add any on the right since I gathered the ribbon.  It's an easy fix and it really does give the finished card a more polished look.  Take a peek at the photos below to see the difference.

Easter Egg Chick

Good morning!  I have a new sketch for you from Tuesday Morning Sketches; this one is simple...it let's the image take center stage.  Here it is:

As you can see, I flipped the sketch and went with one of the Stampendous Calendar Chicks...doesn't she look like she is having a blast balancing those eggs on her head?  I sure do hope they are hard boiled!  LOL  The chick is colored with pencils and I've accented the eggs with glitter.  For the banner, I have added some mesh...I like the light, airy look.  For embellishing I have added a die cut flower and some brads.

Snap Me

Hello!  It's time for our monthly challenge at Flat Friends; this month Em would like you to use a sentiment on your card.  Sounds good, right?!

Hmmm, sentiments....  I rarely use one, so this was fun!  I loved Em's new images for March; do you notice anything different about this cutie?  She has a nose and a mouth!  How fun is that?!  This image made me think of this fun paper that I had in my stash; I used a bunch of the different patterns and went with a collage type card.  (I used a sketch from The Paper Players)I've colored the image, cut it out, and adhered it to a Polaroid-style image, then added a bunch of die cuts, brads, beads, and some fun, sparkly lips (found in my Valentine embellie bin). The sentiment "Snap Me" refers to the Snapchats that my 15 year-old daughter and her friends love to send each other.  I really had fun putting this one together!  I hope you will break out the sentiments and play along with our challenge this month!
